“This one is very serious, guys:
I came upon these two on the sidewalk. They were having a conversation. “Excuse me,” I said, addressing the girl: “I’m sorry to interrupt, but is there anyway I can take your photo?”
“Why would you want my photo?” she asked.
“Because you look beautiful,” I said. And she did. She was Sudanese. There is a very distinct beauty among people from the Sudan, and she was filled up with it. Suddenly the man cut in:
“I was just telling her she was beautiful,” he said.
Naively, I assumed I had just walked up on one stranger giving a compliment to another. I wanted to capture the moment. “Let me take your photograph together,” I said. The man seemed reluctant, he started smiling nervously and inching away. But the girl called him back.
“Come take a picture with me,” she said. Encouraged by her attention, he returned. She put her arm around him, and I took the photo.
As I examined the photos on my camera, the man started whispering to the girl. She answered him in a loud voice: “I told you! I’m not that kind of girl.” She seemed agitated now. Finally sensing that I had misread the situation, I stepped between them. The man began hurrying down the sidewalk.
When the man left, the girl’s demeanor changed completely. She seemed shaken. Her eyes were tearing up. “He just offered me five hundred dollars to go out with him,” she said. “And then when I said ‘no,’ he offered me one thousand. Why does this always happen to me?”
“It happens a lot?” I asked.
“All the time,” she said. “I’m sorry I’m getting emotional. I just can’t go out of my house without this kind of thing happening. I have a son. I’m a mother. I would never degrade myself like that. I just don’t understand why this keeps happening.”
“Do you mind if I tell this story?” I asked.
“Please,” she said. “Tell it.”
Let’s hope this man, and all men, realize the emotional damage they are inflicting on the women they try to buy. In the meantime, feel free to SHARE.*
Dear Tumblr, fuck you for trying to erase this.
I’m saving this post because as many times as Tumblr tries to erase this woman’s story and act like anything about this was okay, that’s as many times as I’m reposting it. They can either cut me off or stop being assnuggets about this. whichEVER.

omg I want one x love them
Hi, OP here.
As in Original Poster.
As in the person that made this post.
Seriously?
SERIOUSLY!?
Did you really just delete my long paragraph about how The Joker and Harley are an example of an abusive relationship? And how Batman: The Animated Series (which is the show that those gifs are from) originally created Harley Quinn to be in an abusive relationship with The Joker? That the point of her entire character was to show that she was in an abusive relationship!? And that Hot Topic should be ashamed of selling these shirts because someone is going to not understand that it’s an abusive relationship and think that it’s okay. Did you SERIOUSLY REMOVE THAT AND REPLACE IT WITH “OMG I WANT ONE X LOVE THEM!?” For God’s sake! This is exactly what I was talking about!
I’m sorry! Usually I don’t get this worked up but…when I made the post, I thought to myself, “If one person…one person…misinterprets what an abusive relationship is because of these shirts…”
But then I thought, ‘No…no…it’ll be okay…’
Apparently I was right to have been worried.
We should all be worried.
OP here (again).
So I just got an email from Hot Topic about their new Valentine’s Day items. And guess what the theme was?
Unbelievable.
seriously tho between this and the 50 Shades of Grey hype, I am so disturbed by the amount of entertainment media geared towards promoting, validating, and even celebrating abusive relationships this Valentines Day.

My friend wrote this article on Reddit and it is now going viral everywhere. She really did nail it. Reblog the shit out of this and spread it like wildfire!

This is my best friend, Berlina.
Since kindergarten, she’s been bullied over her weight. She’s had health complications because of it. She’s changed schools because of it. And when I met her in year 7, she was still so bubbly, so full of life, you’d never believe that someone this strong was hiding so much pain. She’s always been there for me as a friend. Last year, she sat by my hospital bedside for hours and hours and hours after my overdose. She literally wouldn’t leave until the nurses forced everyone out. And the sacrifices she’s made for not only me but all of my friends amazes me, because she’s taken on everyone else’s pain as well as her own.
Recently, she’s been through a lot. It’s our final year of high school and all our teachers are harassing her for ‘not putting enough effort into her studies’ despite the fact that she’s not going for an ATAR (final exam rank). She cuts the words fat and ugly into her arm. She’s dealt with death threats from one of her ex best friends. She’s had guys treat her like shit and been called a slut and a fat bitch. And so she’s starting to believe it.
Please, please reblog this if you think Berlina is beautiful, inside and out. Reblog if you have a friend who’s amazing who you want to tell all of tumblr about.
Reblog because no one so good should feel so bad that they want to end their own life.
SHE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!
THIS MADE ME CRY
SHE’S GORGEOUS
EVERYONE REBLOGshe’s absolutely beautiful. A beautiful mind and a beautiful body. she’s true grace. She’s gorgeous
She’s gorgeous in her own rights! She has so much life in her and courage to hell with what society thinks of her! No one should treat others like that-especially teachers! People can be so cruel to those around them, Truly sometimes I think this country is so ignorant to everyone who isn’t thin or in the same religion or who looks different. Just because a woman or a person is curvy or voluptuous doesn’t mean they are sub-human.

So there are a lot of reasons why Bob’s Burgers is such a great show but today, I’m going to talk about one of my favorite parts of the show: Tina.
Or more specifically: How the family treats Tina.
I stand by a statement that I once made: Tina Belcher is everything that Meg Griffin could have been in Family Guy hadn’t screwed up.
Tina is an awkward thirteen-year-old girl and the oldest of the Belcher siblings. The show doesn’t hold back at showing some of her awkward moments. She frequently fantasizes about boys but she never knows how to act around them, she writes erotic fan/friend-fiction, she’s socially awkward, she easily panics, she often says the wrong things, etc.
And yes, members of the family have occasionally pointed out how awkward she is. But here come the best part. They don’t care! They still love Tina! She is rarely the butt of a joke and the Belchers would never tell her to shut up or otherwise abuse her unlike some other shows on FOX.And the family is always going out of their way to do things for her because that’s what a family does. Especially Bob. Bob is such a great father and the way he’ll do anything for his kids (especially Tina) proves it. ‘Fighting’ the teacher of a Capoeira class because he refuses to give Tina her yellow cord. Driving a cab at night to make extra money to throw her a birthday party. Getting his legs waxed alongside her so that she’s not afraid. Going to the equivalent of a Brony convention to get her favorite toy back. Etc. Linda treats Tina just like the rest of the kids and fully embraces Tina’s ‘weirdness’. Even when Gene and Louise tease Tina, it’s made clear that they still love her and that teasing each other is just what siblings do. Most of the series shows the three of them doing things together and the episodes always equally involve all three siblings and using them to their full potential. All three are hilarious, all three have their moments, and all three shine. And when Tina is upset, Gene and Louise are always there to try and save the day. Whether it’s getting her to her favorite concert, getting back at a bully, letting her have her time to shine at a Bat Mitzvah, etc.
Also, her weight is never mentioned. I don’t think anyone’s weight is mentioned in Bob’s Burgers, other than a scene where Bob cheers Teddy up.
Anyway, the point of this post is to show how amazing a show can be when they have an awkward character who still has great moments, has a family who loves her, and is actually funny, instead of making her the butt of the jokes by having her constantly be abused by her family and the writers of the show, DO YOU SEE?
Girls and women I know (and myself included) relate to Tina a lot. We identify with at least some part of her as a reflection of ourselves. We laugh with Tina because we’re laughing at ourselves at the same time, in a comfortable lighthearted way. With Meg, everyone is asked to laugh at her, and she rarely gets a chance to redeem herself or grow.

This should be posted in school hallways.
Before everyone gets in a “not all men” tizzy, let’s just remember that high school hallways are filled with rape jokes… But when a girl mentions her period, the faces of 99% of teenage guys turn white as a sheet.
News flash:
The female body is not disgusting. Rape is.I want to reblog this a million times

“Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me. “ - by the late and great Dr. Maya AngelouPhotographer J. William Washington
